All Clear Here, Boss

Sorry about the hiatus (again). As I have posted to FaceBook and Twitter, I am fine. My region of Japan has been pretty much ok. Aid drives are under way (please consider donating what you can to the Red Cross--you can even text it!). But really. I've survived battles with the undead. After such unnatural things, you think a *natural* disaster is gonna get me? Nah. Thanks for the worry and prayers, tho.

Now, (well, soon) back to the story!

Japan

There will be no Mutant of the Week posted today. There was going to be a bonus post on the late Douglas Adams, one of my favorite science fiction writers. That post has also been scrapped. My writing time today goes to scanning the Internet for news about Japan, and waiting.

As some of you know, Naomi is the pen name of my real life best friend. She left the practice of law and moved to Japan almost a year ago. She has a fascinating personal story, some of which she shares in the manuscript of her first novel. I hope to see some if it in future Undead Bar Association storylines; we've discussed some possible stories to be set in Japan.

On Friday, March 11 at 5:46 UTC an 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the east coast of Honshu, Japan. My knowledge of Japanese geography is poor. I think Naomi is in the western part of Japan, away from the tsunami's and the earthquake's epicenter. I could be wrong, and even if I'm right she will still have experienced something of the earthquake and aftershocks.

I'm waiting for information. We all are. And I can't deal with fictional monsters or science fiction today, knowing my best friend is in the midst of real danger. All I can do is wait, google, and pray.

I hate this. I want to do something, I'm doing all I can, and I feel like I'm not doing anything.

Come on, Naomi. Send us some word. Whatever is happening over there, I know you will get through it. You survived a law school on par with the deepest regions of hell. You can survive anything. Just message everyone soon, please.

Mutant of the Week: Camo Mammoth

Another great mutant from Quantum Duck's Mutant of the Week!  Artist Jesse Garson has brough to life a concept so big, so grand, so huge, so major, momentous, monumental, tectonic and weighty that it can only be described as 'not small.'  We'd love to keep it all to ourselves, but you can't keep something like this hidden.

Happy Friday, everyone!
